SCHOOL HISTORY -

How We Started

 

  • 1917 - The Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, at the invitation of the Archbishop James Duhig arrived in Corinda to open a school for the growing Catholic population of Brisbane.
  • 28 January 1917 - the school was blessed by the Archbishop to the glory of God and the use of Christian education
  • 29 January 1917 - the primary school opened with 50 students
  • 1919 - the school became a boarding school for junior boys.
  • 1927 - boarding school closed but the primary school continued
  • 1941 - the school became the OLSH College as a boarding and day school for girls.
  • 1972 - the college closed but the primary school remained.
  • 1993 - the last of the OLSH sisters left the school and a lay principal was appointed.

Since then the school has grown with new air conditioned classes, music room and resources centre added, bigger playground areas included and sports facilities continued to be improved.

2005 - P&F make funds available to buy more computers and a bank of wirelessed laptops.

2006 - a prep building was built. Classroom air conditioned and provided with a fridge.

2007 - enrollment approximately 400 students. Playground for prep established.

2008 - New principal appointed. There was further renovations of gardens and playgrounds.

 

 
 
 
 
Thanks to the dedication and labours of the Sisters who worked in the school to shape it into a place where the school community strives to share in the mission of Jesus to bring love, forgiveness, dignity and salvation to all.
